Therapeutic Massage
A style of massage therapy which focuses on getting results vs just relaxing. As the name indicates, the purpose of this style massage is to achieve a structural change or therapeutic benefit in the body. With this treatment, therapists mobilize your soft tissue (muscles, tendons, fascia, etc) to restore normal functional use. Various techniques are utilized to achieve results such as neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching, and/or many other techniques. In our spa, therapeutic massage can be combined with Swedish to be both relaxing and targeting specific areas of tension or pain. Therapists can also do deeper tissue if so desired. Just let your therapist know what your goal is and they can adjust massage to your needs.

Craniosacral
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system. Relieving tension in the central nervous system promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.
What conditions may CST help?
- Chronic pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Migraines
- Complex regional pain syndrome
- Fascia adhesions
- TMJ
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Emotional issues
- Stress related disorders
- ADD
- Sleep disorders
- PTSD
- TBI
- And many other conditions
What happens during a Craniosacral therapy session?
Typically, you lie on a massage table fully clothed (unless CST is added to a massage session). Your CST therapist uses gentle touch to assess any restrictions and/or imbalances in the body. Using the CST rhythm, the therapist will go to areas of dysfunction and will assist the body to unwind or release and balance these areas. At the end of a CST session, most people experience a deep relaxation and heightened sense of well-being. A session generally lasts an hour.
How many CST sessions will I need?
Response to CST varies from individual to individual and condition to condition. Your response is uniquely your own and can’t be compared to anyone else’s, even those cases that may be similar to your own. The number of sessions needed varies widely from just one to three or more a week over the course of several weeks. You and your therapist will develop a plan that uniquely suits you and your condition.
Is there any condition for which CST is contraindicated?
There are certain situations where CST is not recommended. These include conditions where a variation and/or slight increase in intracranial pressure would cause instability…these include acute aneurysm cerebral hemorrhage or other preexisting severe bleeding disorders that could be affected by small intracranial pressure changes. Your therapist will have you fill out an intake form and will go over any health concerns prior to your initial session.
